Don’t Go Remixes
by Fort Knox Five
FKX106 – Fort Knox Recordings
Getting the chance to record in the studio with soul legend Sir Joe Quarterman was one of the highlights of the year for Fort Knox Five, and the track Don’t Go became an instant funk classic. As soon as the single was released, we heard from some of our close friends who were eager to rework the track and we are proud to present these two fine remixes from K+Lab and Trotter.
First up is New Zealand’s own K+Lab, who brings live synths and keys to the forefront on his glitched out funky bass remix. The original vocals and horns are layered on top of his beefed up beats and heavy bass stabs. This remix takes the soul of the original and injects it with a heavy dose of modern glitched out funk transforming it into a dancefloor scorcher.
Not to be outdone is Trotter, our man in Sao Paulo, who strips out the original’s retro funk feel replacing it with a swinging future funk vibe. Bouncing and bubbling synth lines run throughout the remix, dominating the track to create a modern P-Funk groove. Trotter’s remix shows his versatile production skills by tweaking the old school flavor of the original track and bringing it into the new millennium.
Fort Knox Recordings is stoked to start the new year with a bang, enlisting two fantastic artists who delivered their debut Fort Knox Five remixes on this single. These remixes take the track in two distinct directions; glitch-hop and future funk, however they both follow Sir Joe’s advice, “Step back three times, aww turn it around!” Instrumental version of both tracks are also available, making this a must have for funk DJs across the globe.

Pressurize The Cabin Remixed
by Fort Knox Five
FKX100 – Fort Knox Recordings
Available on Limited Edition CD and Shipping Worldwide on Bandcamp.
You only turn 100 once, so you better go big! To celebrate Fort Knox Recordings 100th release Fort Knox Five have compiled 20 of the biggest remixes from their latest full-length album “Pressurize the Cabin.” Ranging from Glitch Hop and House to Breaks, and reading like a who’s who of funky electronic producers from across the globe, this release capitalizes on Fort Knox Five’s legacy of dancefloor Funk and is a fitting tribute to the loss of founding member Jon Horvath, now one year gone.
Spring 2015 saw the release of Fort Knox Five’s “Pressurize the Cabin,” beloved by the fans and lauded by the press, with every song given the remix treatment and released as a single. Now – for the very first time – they come together as a collection. For the filthy-at-heart this release features some nasty glitch hop remixes by The Funk Hunters, Father Funk, Basement Freaks, Bobby C Sound TV, Sammy Senior, J*Labs and Warp9. The heavy bass and glitched-out tweaks dovetail perfectly with FK5’s eclectic funk sound and original vocals. Big tunes meant to be played at full volume for maximum effect!
Years spent on the road – rocking clubs and festivals from the DJ booth – have given FK5 a unique perspective of some of the freshest dancefloor directions. Included in this compilation are touches of indie dance, nu disco and house. Long time friends Slynk, All Good Funk Alliance and Farid fire up some great Nu Disco remixes. And House music lovers will find corking gems by the likes of Ursula 1000, Smalltown DJs, SkiiTour, and DJ Dan & Mike Balance.
Never afraid to push the boundaries and drop funky music from all genres, there are a few really cool remixes that require your attention. Both Deekline and Wes Smith deliver killer breaks remixes which are dancefloor monsters. Bart & Baker have turned in an irresistible electro swing remix, the Knight Riderz supply a funky, mind altering trap excursion and – true to form– Fort Knox Five’s alter-ego Thunderball have summoned some rolling, sitar-drenched drum’n’bass.
You can travel the world club-by-club and experience these tracks on the dancefloor or you can get them all here for yourself! Fort Knox Five loves remix culture and have been thrilled to be able to drop these remixes in their DJ sets. “Pressurize The Cabin Remixed” has something for everyone from glitch-hop and house to breaks, nu-disco, drum’n’bass and electro-swing.
“Pressurize The Cabin Remixed Exclusives #2”
by Fort Knox Five
FKX099 – Fort Knox Recordings
Following the release of Fort Knox Five’s second full length album, “Pressurize the Cabin”, each track has been remixed and released as a single. In this process a few rare gems emerged, killer tunes which both Fort Knox Five and Qdup have been playing in their sets all year. After holding on to these exclusive remixes, FK5 is releasing these tunes in a two part lead-up to the 100th release on Fort Knox Recordings, the “Pressurize The Cabin Remixed” album coming out this October.
One of the biggest tunes from the album so far has been Whatcha Gonna Do featuring Mustafa Akbar, and there are already some super funky remixes that have come out. Add to this list a funky glitch-hop monster remix by Sammy Senior, who takes the retro spirit of the original and adds bass wobbles, chopped-up vocal stabs and some serious boom.
After many years of remixing the artists of Fort Knox Recordings, AfroQben finally gets to rework Fort Knox Five, delivering a super funky take on Ready Go featuring Raashan Ahmad. The result is a fat slice of west coast g-funk with vocoded vocals and 70’s funk guitar licks. Turn the volume up loud and get ready for the bass to drop!
These exclusive tunes are a preview of the label’s 100th release, “Pressurize The Cabin Remixed.” Instrumentals are available for both of these exclusive tracks. With two heavyweight remixes spanning funk and glitch-hop, this release will keep the party going until the morning.
